Welcome To Jakes Automotive & High Performance

CHASSIS DYNO SERVICE

Curious how much horsepower and torque your car pumps out?  Or how much power aftermarket parts really give your car?  The DynoJet Dynomometer is a performance diagnostic tool which is used to accurately and simultaneously measure the rear wheel horse power, torque, speed, and RPM of any two wheel drive vehicle. It can accurately test from as little as 20 horsepower, and up to as high as 2000+ horsepower. It allows us to safely duplicate the best road testing under ideal conditions, with reliability and consistency.

Basic Dyno Session

A Basic Dyno Session is essentially a half an hour on the dynomometer.  Three dyno pulls are performed to assure a stable measurement.  Upon completion, you will receive graphs showing the measured performance.

What you need to do:

1.  Be sure that you have adequate fuel.

2.  Check the fluid levels.  Low oil or coolant levels could cause engine damage during testing.

3.  If the transmission is an automatic, check the fluid level.  Low levels could effect test results or cause transmission damage.

4.  Decide on the "Mode" of the tests.  Jakes recommends "Loaded" testing.  As an option, you may select "Unloaded" testing.

5.  Depending on what you wish to see, you will pick either the speed range or RPM range for the test.  Operation above "red line" or speeds higher then tire rating are normally not permitted.

6.  If the transmission is a manual, tests are almost always in direct drive.  If you can lock your automatic into high gear, it can be tested the same way.

What Jakes will do:

 1.  Your vehicle will be placed on the dynomometer and secured in the front and rear.  A RPM pick-up will be attached, on a spark plug wire, or on a coil electrical wire if not equipped.

2.  The vehicle information and test specifications will be entered into the computer console.

3.  The vehicle will be stabilized on the dyno and brought up to operating temperature.  At that point, three pulls will be made.

4.  The operator will review the pulls to assure that the captured data was valid.  If so,  graphs of each run will be printed, along with the data of horsepower and torque to RPM and Time.

5.  The Graphs and an Instruction Sheet explaining how to interpret the data will be placed in an envelope for you to take with you.

6.  The session is now complete and your vehicle will be removed from the dynamometer.
